A modern game console under the Hakade TV, a well-known model that many of you probably have, and its main feature is a 3D accelerator that allows it to create a beautifully rendered world that we all know and love. . [Mircemk] Avoid such fripperies with the Twang project, as it is a game that is not 3D or 2D, but 1D. The display, virtually the entire gaming surface, is a single strip of addressable LED that can be seen in the video below the break.
It has an ESP32 on the back, and a unique one-dimensional joystick using an accelerometer. There is also an audio channel with a little piezoelectric speaker and the LED strip is a particularly high-density one from DFRBot. Because it is an ESP32-powered device it has WiFi, on which an access point is opened for a network on which game statistics are served as a web page. It can’t displace that modern console, but it’s definitely inventive.
Longtime Hackaday readers will be aware that this is just the latest in a long line of one-dimensional games, including the famous PONG’s 1D Tech.
