State Rep. Steve Clouse earns NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award

[ad_1]

NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business Award to state Rep. Steve Clouse today at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2022 Alabama Legislature Business and Community Celebration.

The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small businesses. The NFIB Alabama Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members, voted to present the award to Representative Clouse for his outstanding leadership on small-business issues.

Clouse, who represents the 93rd District, chairs the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee. He has earned a 100 percent NFIB voting record in each four-year cycle since 2007. In the 2022 legislative sessions, he sponsored House Bill 1, which set aside $79.5 million in American Rescue Plan dollars to shore up the state unemployment trust fund, and H.B. 391, legislation that will provide substantial tax relief for 230,000 small businesses by eliminating the annual $100 minimum business privilege tax.

“Representative Clouse has shown us time and again that he understands the challenges facing Main Street businesses and will do everything he can to create an environment where small businesses can succeed,” Elebash said. “On behalf of our small business members, I am proud to present him with the Guardian of Small Business Award.”
