Cincinnati – Asian Food Fest will return to Court Street Plaza in downtown Cincinnati this weekend. This is one of the many events taking place for the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Event organizers say more than 40,000 people attended the event last year, which was held in October due to the Covid-19. They are expecting more people this year.

Participants will taste food from Cambodia, China, Hawaii, India, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

There are a record-breaking number of food vendors for this year’s festival, with more than 35 regional restaurants. Local crafts and Asian beer are also available. Visitors will even get a chance to try the Asian Food Fest “Secret Menu”. Countries represented on the “secret menu” include the Philippines, Cambodia, China and India.

There will be entertainment along with food. There will be dance troupes, family-friendly activities and music performances from local artists and national artists, including Kiyomi, Jamieboy, Katherine Ho, and Simon Tam and Joe Jiang of The Slants.

Bikash Sondhi, a member of the Asian Food Fest Planning Committee, explains why events like the Asian Food Fest at API Heritage Month are so important to the Cincinnati area.

“It gives everyone the ability to come, not just the taste of the food, but to be able to step out of your comfort zone and try something different and then dive into the culture of Asia,” Sondhi said.

This is the 11th year of Asian Food Fest. There is no charge for admission. The festival is held at Court Street Plaza in downtown Cincinnati, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
